So this cake was intersting. The bride forgot to order flowers for the cake from her florist, and the flowers are a fairly important part of this design. So I had to steal orchids from some of the arrangemants, and go outside and cut ivy from the garden of the reception site! But Ithink we pulled it off!

Random Hearts Wedding Cake
Commissioned two tier wedding cake, base layer is a mature rich fruit cake, top tier is a maderia filled with raspberry jam and buttercream. I like the idea of having different types of cake for each layer in particular having sponge layers for kids. My brief for this cake was a red heart shape, the indented design of random hearts was my take on the traditional cornelli finish.

this was done for a cake show. It won 2nd place in professional wedding cakes and the people's choice award. It had over 25 pounds of powdered sugar just in flowers and lattice. The vase is molded sugar. It is still one of my favorites I ever made.
